Nanyang Business School

Overview

Ranked one of the top business schools in Asia, the Nanyang Business School (NBS) is committed to excellent teaching, innovative curricula, quality research and dynamic industry links. The School's high academic standards, outstanding student and faculty quality, wide network of corporate linkages and strong international orientation have earned it both the AACSB International and EQUIS accreditations, making it the first Singapore business school to achieve this distinction. The Nanyang M.B.A. has been ranked among the Top 100 by the Economist Intelligence Unit (2004 - 2007). In January 2008, the Nanyang M.B.A. programme was ranked World Top 50 by the Financial Times.

To accomplish its mission of growing business leaders for Asia and beyond, NBS has put in place both the human capital and the physical infrastructure to create a world-class learning environment. Strategic collaborations with top universities worldwide have been formed to provide students with valuable opportunities for international exposure. The School's 175 full-time faculty have made an indelible presence in the areas of Accountancy, Finance, Information Technology, Marketing, Operations and Management; both in terms of research and practice. Its alumni are well represented in the top echelons of industry and government, in Singapore and the region.

To keep our methodologies and practices current, we evolve continuously with leading research and business entities. Today, we are partners with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University; Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Western Ontario, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Shanghai Jiaotong University. We provide global education with an Asian focus, state-of-the-art facilities and an e-learning infrastructure. We also employ pragmatic teaching methods through relevant case studies and industry links, to encourage experimental learning, as well as help students develop the professional and analytical skills that they will need in the market place.

The School also provides some of the most advanced technology with a campus-wide computer network, and NTUnet, which links all the computing systems within the grounds of the University.

Marketing and International Business

http://www.nbs.ntu.edu.sg/Faculty/MnIB/MnIB.asp

The faculty in the Marketing and International Business Division is truly global and diverse. More than three-fourths come from North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions while the Singaporean faculty members have had strong international training and experience.

Many of our faculty members have also had business experience before moving into academia. They ran their own businesses, or served as senior executives in companies such as Coca-Cola, Xerox, and Sunbeam. They bring to their teaching and research a blend of scholarship and pragmatic wisdom. Many continue to consult for businesses in the region.

The Division also features researchers and scholars in several niche areas: consumer behavior, services marketing, tourism studies, international business, and marketing strategy. Faculty members of the Division have published in some of the world's leading academic journals including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of International Business Studies and the Annals of Tourism Research.
